McGregor Fabric Structures supplies Modular Dividing Screen to the National Composites Centre, enabling site management in a highly sensitive, shared workshop environment.
The National Composites Centre (NCC) is part of the UK’s high value manufacturing catapult; supporting technology start-ups, developing innovative applications for high-tech composites. Providing industrial-scale research, technology and manufacturing facilities to over 100 specialist engineers, designers and technicians from their Bristol site.
The NCC’s industrial facility is a large-scale workshop, sub-divided to accommodate their various tenants. Due to the temporary nature of their tenants, the site is regularly remodelled to fit each tenant’s specific (often changing) needs. The NCC will have many tenant businesses working across similar composite technologies on site with at any one time so confidentiality is really important.
The NCC approached McGregor Fabric Structures in search for a semi-permanent partition that would allow their customer’s complete privacy when working on high profile projects.
The solution had to be freestanding and screen to 4.5 metres in height, be capable of being reconfigured and added to and bridge existing site services. Catering for various tenant needs, the dividing screen had to allow for both personnel access, vehicle access and in some cases allow for abnormal loads to pass in and out (as components and raw materials are bought in for manufacture or assembly).
“Having a really good flexible screen system was key to our sites operation. We’ve been very happy with the service provided and would certainly want to work with McGregor Fabric Structures in the future.”
After an initial tender process, McGregor Fabric Structures were selected ahead of alternative products. Scoring highly against quality and strength, reusability and ease of storing sections of partition when not in use. The Modular Dividing Screen allowed NCC to deliver a lightweight solution to their customers, creating enclosed areas with complete privacy within their open-plan workshop site.
Completed in 2016 we have since returned to the site to reconfigure this screen on multiple occasions, which has evolved into a ‘new’ larger enclosed space for one of the NCC’s most highly regarded tenants.
